White traveller - OLD 913E

Post by LouiseM »

Spotted an article about this stolen traveller in my local paper. It was stolen from South Woodford (NE London / Essex) very near to where I live and I've spotted it about locally. It has a very distinctive number plate but this could have been changed and the car could be anywhere in the country. Please keep an eye out for it as it would be nice to reunite it with it's owner who is 81 and has now been left housebound.

Here's the article: http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/9 ... is_stolen/

Using the number plate from a stolen car wouldn't be a good idea, to put it mildly :)

im sure a hidden switch wont work every time though. the people who stole it obviously didn't want a joy ride! so its more than likely they would know most of these little secrets.

Seems they are getting desirable to parts thieves  any deterrent like Roy said is better than none!. I cant believe people dont realise what kind of a world we live in and the thieving scumbags that are about .I hope he is reunited with his car as i would imagine its his pride and joy :(

Hence the reason for buying from reputable suppliers and not from any old tom dick or harry. Hit the supply chain and you kill one reason for stealing cars straight away.

Does anyone know if a tracker works on positive earth cars?

I expect it was just stolen for a 'joy ride' - and the switch is so simple, and so effective -I'm amazed anyone would hesitate to fit one........... As for the 'tracker' - it takes about 10 minutes to convert the car to -ve earth - so just DO it!

Still no sign of the car but the local paper has this week reported the existence of this thread stating "The club has almost 10,000 online members who are now keeping an eye out for anyone who might offer the car for sale"

http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news ... oes__viral_/

Not strictly true, as that is the number of members registered here since this messageboard came into existence rather than the number of current members, but hopefully most of the active members on here will be keeping an eye out for it :D

Again, MY advice is to record your Minors' cab/body number!

A missing/tampered body number plate should ring alarm bells!!

Ideally send them to me so they can ALSO go on my database.

I'm able to year date MOST Minors by their Body Numbers - making it VERY difficult for scumbags to sell "ringers"!!!

ALL information received is confidential.

Together we'll greatly reduce Moggy Minor crime!

Although I haven't a 1967 MAW body number on my list...OLD 913E will be around the (x Z35XXXX 18XXXX x) mark!

Sadly! It has probably gone under the crusher, number plate and all, by now and will be on its way in the form of a square cube to China, India or Ireland! I do believe new legislation regarding 'scrapyard receiving' is in the pipeline. Can't come quick enough.

I had my van stolen and taken to a scrapyard.

I was stupid enough to believe one needed to present the vehicles' V5 to scrap the vehicle. NO, all the pikey needed to show to the scrapyard office was a driving licence - and that was FAKE!

The Police were totally useless.

You need to chain/bolt EVERYTHING down these days, or some slimeball will have it away!!

A VERY,VERY sore subject for me!!!

Partly explains why I'm so obsessed with Minor body numbers - makes car theives' life's a little more tricky!!
