Iam a member and might require a vin number to be checked by the club, can you tell me how this is done by the club and how long it takes
Re: VIN NUMBER
Minors never had VIN numbers - they do have Chassis and Body numbers. POMMReg is the man to check with.

Re: VIN NUMBER
The chassis number (what is nowadays refered to as a VIN (vehicle identification number) is stamped into a metal plate which is then screwed onto the engine bay bulkhead. Obviously this can be removed easily. The same number is also stamped into the bodyshell either onto the bulkhead below the screw-on plate OR into the RH front floor pan near the drivers feet. The position depends on the age of the car. You should be able to find this yourself but if you need help from the club there are officials who can provide this service. Do you have any numbers visible?
Re: VIN NUMBER
The important body number is also under the bonnet - on the left side -just under the windscreen panel - on a thin strip of metal held on with two small screws. Send these two numbers (chassis and body) to POMMReg - along with your engine number and Reg number and he will confirm if they are correct. A picture or two of the vehicle will also confirm if the numbers tie in with the apparent age of the vehicle.
