Disc Brakes

Post by MrIan »

Hello all. Old Boris minor was restored/updated about 7 years ago by a previous owner and they fitted a disc brake set up.
Now I've done a fair bit of searching and can find 2 main kits, 1 using marina (solid) and the other using ford (vented).
Old Boris has solid discs and the modified marina hubs (to match pcd) yet hasn't got the marina calipers as they look like ford.
It's all working fine but was there a kit that mixed the ford and marina kits done about 7 years ago?

I am not aware that there were any mixed Ford/Marina disc brake kits.
A photo of the calliper in question would be appreciated.
The Marina calliper is fixed to the mounting bracket whereas the Ford callipers in the kits I have seen all float (move sideways) on the locating pins.
This is a Marina brake calliper:-

This is the Ford disc brake conversion from ESM Note the difference in the callipers :-

Not all Ford based kits use vented discs. Bull Motif used to give you the choice of vented or non vented. There are some iffy looking Ford based kits with solid discs on eBay.
