After chatting to JB it became clear that I’d been searching for the wrong thing or incorrect spec/term.
Because I’m flattening the steering wheel and in need of cranking the column I need correct UJ and spline for steering rack.
Being of the metric age I’ve been searching 15mm dia x 36 spline
Should be 36 spline x 5/8 “ dia, found one and perfect fit, just need to braze and pin job done! Always pays to chat IMHO.
The Minor steering column can be easily lowered without resorting to U/J's.
My steering column has been lowered by at least two inches (possibly more) at the column clamp. Just slacken the rack clamps to enable the rack to rotate.
Lots going on, and seem a little sparodic but all rely on what’s arrived in the post.
Gearbox stripped and prepped, new bearings waiting, bell housing off to aqua blasters, and need three prime drive cogs.
All paint is acid etch, primer and two coats of base, 4 coat of engine paint will finish it, or a coat of Raptor!
Steering rack overhauled, painted and re- assemble, fitted to car.
Still awaiting final spline section to complete my UJ steering setup.
Strengthen plates finished for engine bay and shock mounts.
Need to finish off side lower shock mount’s and do a dry run then all off to powder coat.
Looks like I’m going to rob the primary drive cogs off my spare gearbox, unless anyone knows where I can get some from?

Body strengthening plates, this now completes the suspension triangulation, the front roll cage will fix the back of these, with the lower plating should be good for a plenty of horses!
Once the mezzanine or electrical shelf is made, the firewall will be bead rolled then spot welded in, then all the boxes will be welded in situ.

New bits: complete set of race wings in grp from generation glass fibre, and battery box from race car brackets, very happy with quality, need to make a small plinth for the battery box, but that’s when the tank and rear gets assembled.

Noted Phill but I’m after a flatter steering wheel position, and I’ve exhausted my options, hence the twin UJ pipe work.
This week is mostly steering column and [option and lessons learned.
1. You need two fixed points to design a double UJ column.
2. Any movement within he steering column etc will incur changes or position.
3. Drill pinning and dowel pin is relatively easy if you take your time, need a lesson in oxy welding tho.
Bracket to hold column to car needs welding in, bracket to column is welded but need bolts holding not screws, need to shorten the column to the slot marker, that will insure a less than 30 degree UJ angle. Have all now so just need some brazing to do, mig the plate to car and re shorten the column again…..

Images of top half and fixing, note the plastic bush at end of column, this stops the columns from moving in the housing eg back in forth.. worked very well as material as same CA as ice apparently!
Derlyn I think it’s called, any how’s machines very well.

Outer case bearings need replacing, try finding them..
Main issue is the three main drive cogs are shot, £1200 for new set or £495 for second hand ones, going to keep searching.
Case painted and dressed, Abarth remote shift service and assembled and wearing new Quaife shifter knob, bell housing back from TSR shinning now, need bearing and cog set then that’s a wrap.
What do they say about one step forward and three back?

Rear axle update, 5mm plated brackets finally cut, took longer than it needed, to be set up and welded to Atlas axle, panhard rod bracket is going the bin, ,will make another stronger one, the bracket to the axle needs re visiting too. Photos to follow…
Well there a lot to say about the yanks against the Italians.
My gearbox parts where astronomical from the Italians, in desperation I called a buddy who’s building a works 16V 124. He gave me a lead and emailed them, two of the three big cogs sent in 4 days for less than 150 bucks, because NOS they incurre not taxes, remember it’s called U8, and that means technically used.
Awaiting the big bearings but essentially all ready for the rebuild.
Whilst I was in gearbox mode I made the temp rear hanging bracket out of folders 3mm stainless , because of unknown final position I made it off set and longer than needed. Will trim when in position.
Delivery of shiny powder coating for stock and sales, all triple coated an final 2 coats clear, top notch, can you see the elephant in the Lancia/fiat camp?
Willow powder coating, willow lane Mitcham ask for Richard

Awaiting receipt of my stainless braided brake cables from Earls I decided to work out a brake cable inventory, odd to think and apparently normal that most systems go from metric to Unf/npt and back seems crazy really.
Sent the list and a hour later cost came back £275 all cable, fixings and adaptors delivered 2 weeks!
At least they won’t be cheap Chinese s88t cables that melt under the use of normal petroleum!
All ready for final powder coat and colour, 2 weeks now all back to assemble the front end….can’t wait
Box off for yellow passivate, and a box for final aqua blast….
