Does this look like a 10CC flywheel? And any ideas what these letters mean?
Looks like IRB. or possibly LRB.

The standard 1098cc flywheel has a centre hole of 1 3/4"

The 10CC flywheel mounting bolt PCD is also larger than the standard 1098cc flywheel which has a PCD of 2.5". So if the PCD (diagonal) is larger than 2.5" and the flywheel centre hole is larger than 1 3/4" it can be safely assumed to be a 10CC unit.

If looks as if the flywheel has been PCD re-drilled and the centre machined to fit the 10CC crankshaft.

PCD is 2.75 and there’s no evidence of any redrilling.

I thought flywheels were 803, 948, 1098 cc etc

Sorry Geo, some Midgets had a ‘stronger’ 1098 engine, the crank had 2” mains rather than 1.75”
, it’s known as a 10CC rather than 10CG.

Thanks, it makes sense for the 'sportier' motor.
All these different numbers, depending on whether 'original' or reconditioned Silver Seal/Gold Seal........

You think it’s safe to say it’s a 10CC flywheel? I only ask because I was mistakenly sold it as suitable for my 1098 rebuild, I don’t want to pass it off on ebay as something it isn’t. And I still need a 1098 Minor flywheel

A bit of additional information about the 10CC engine - To comply with the requirements of the Formula Junior regulations BMC had to produce a certain number of production blocks - so the 10CC engine was not really produced to be a sportier engine but the basis of a racing engine acceptable for inclusion in the Formula Junior racing series.

I am certain as far as I can be that the flywheel in question is from a 10CC engine.

10CC engine flywheels fetch a very good prices because they are rare and sought after.

Anyone who is after a 10CC engine flywheel will know his/her onions and will be able to determine its originality.

I think that you are quite in order to advertise it as a !0CC engine flywheel. Include the dimensions that you have shown in the above photos.

Here is a genuine 10CC flywheel on 'e' bay for comparison. You can use the various datum points to compare.
Note the price - when they do come up for sale they are all offered around the £90 - £110 plus and they do sell at that price.

Cheers Phil. Hopefully I can offset some of the hassle. I really didn't think it'd be difficult to get a 1098 flywheel. First one was never sent by the seller on Ebay. Then this one isn't the right one
