When I first started looking at buying a Moggy I had never heard of scams such as this
I found a pickup I liked not realising that good pickups were as rare as hens teeth
I even spoke to the people and made attempts to view. I spoke to the bloke selling and his wife and they were very plausible
I eventually won the item but something just didn’t feel right. I still to this day don’t know if it was a scam.
If I can still find the listing I will post it but I think they are still awaiting payment !
If it looks too good to be true.....

It’s the male menopause
I can’t remember where I’ve put things, I can’t see anything when it’s in front of my face, I don’t know what day it is
All I’m missing is a hot flush

That's like saying hospitals are trying to get rid of all the sickness in the world, it's not possible so why bother. Every scammer put out of action makes some difference.

As for the Ebay scams with one picture of a nice car as bait and then another pic of a mobile number, I've seen this type of advert pop up at the same time as a genuine advert, stealing the picture of the genuine one. I'm not sure if it's a middleman thing where they take a margin off between the genuine seller and buyer or a proper scam. If the latter, I think it's only a matter of time before a wronged person and 10 mates with hammers and anger management issues follow up posing as buyers with cash. Though I'd like to emphasise that I'm in no way condemning violence as a solution.

You've no chance, John.......I've just put in a bid for £2.5m :D I'm keeping my fingers crossed :D

I know I say this every time but as much as I abhor these scumbags, I honestly do feel that anyone who falls for such blatant scams deserves all they get.

And the seller is now gone.
I looked at a few of the things they were selling a few hours ago, and they have all now gone from my 'recently viewed' list.

Awwh......does that mean my bid of £2.5m has not been accepted then?

These scumbags will be back again soon for 24hrs (or less, if eBay get their act together) with another 2,000odd selection of classics, motorbikes, speedboats and motorhomes etc......all very competitively priced of course. :D

Grrrrr!

They're at it again today. Surely ebay can stop this. 1355 vehicles on the unfortunate members list. We've seen the same vehicles time and tine again. I've reported a couple again. It just annoys me that they keep coming back almost on a weekly basis.

Yes, for all their talk of 'Algorithms' to monitor social media, you'd think they could just have a few lines of code that would detect the same images coming around time and time again.

Or simply stop anyone from listing large numbers of high priced items (especially when they have no history of doing so) by the activity being flagged up and somebody actually looking at the listing :x

There are more there again today, another seller with a hundred classic cars and lorries for sale who's only previously sold a Paddington Bear toy. I can't believe that ebay don't have ways of spotting such irregular patterns, but nothing ever seems to get done. The only thing you can do is just tell people to have their wits about them when looking at cars online I guess
