Yep. The Elizabethan took 6.30 for non stop.
It can now be done in a little as 4.22, including 4 stops.... though typically around 5 hours.

Something about a steam train, the nostalgia, the soot in the eye from the ventilation window......

Still can't beat them though! :D
Having made inquiries, I have found this and other railway films on this two disc DVD titled: On and Off The Rails.
Images of the front and rear covers below.
Unfortunately I am informed that it is discontinued on the site where I looked, so if you want one it may be a case of buying a copy where you can find one.
That said, there are some copies on eBay at present, links to a couple below.
The 'Elizabethan Express' is the second title on the 'On the rails' DVD.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Thank you for the link.
I have purchased the DVD in the 2nd link.

Whilst there is something about a steam engine there is nothing like getting in the cab of a diesel locomotive, turning the key and being able to carry out a job straight away.

Yes, starting the fire several hours before you need it requires a certain amount planning and a generous sprinkling good fortune..... No other form of mechanical transport has that disadvantage.

You're such a cynic Berni!
A Steam Loco is like a living, breathing, loveable beast! It has soul! :D
Long may they continue to roam the preserved lines of the UK! :D
Best wishes,
Mike.
