Traveller roof nails and foam strip

Hi,

I'm getting to the stage of reassembling my Traveller after having it resprayed. Can anyone recommend the correct nails to use for the roof and gutter? I've read around and seen various suggestions including copper nails and screws. I spoke to ESM today and they don't stock them. Ideally I'd like to be able to buy them from Screwfix or similar so if anyone has done this, that would be great to know.

The other thing I'm trying to find is the foam strip that goes on top of the centre roof rails. The old ones had something stapled to them. Again, I spoke to ESM and they don't stock anything so I wondered if self adhesive foam tape might be the thing to use. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
James

If you see the Ed China video in UT on how he renovated a Traveller, it shows the roof gutter being sone - a specialist operation.

Found it

I removed the original guttering fixings from my 1970 Traveller -- they were copper nails.
I haven't seen screws used, but I suppose very small brass ones (or other corrosion-resistant ones) could be used.

Hi,

I spoke to Woodies and they told me that they use 25 x 2 roundwire nails so I've gone with those. The guttering is being done by the paint shop rather than me.
