Adderley Park LCVs

For Paul Skilleter's & Anders Clausger's updated book - which will have our humble efforts included in the LCV section - we desperately require details from Common Lane, Adderley Park assembled LCVs.

Whether it be restored, a daily runner, a basket case or simply rf60/v5 info from a long dead motor, it needs to be recorded. It's VERY unlikely "official" records have survived.

All information greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Please need the following info from Minor LCVs;

Chassis nos.
Body nos.
Engine nos.
Lucas Electrical dates
Original colour
DoFR

Struggling with "production by year" figures, those quoted in books don't account for GPO & CKD Minor's.

Perhaps all very uninteresting for most, BUT, it needs to be sorted, doubt anyone else will continue with it when I'm just a puff of smoke in the atmosphere.

Can you please tell me what on earth you're doing? And why you appear to have reported your own post?

Want out of here please, posting on here is a waste of time, no-one interested in the historical side of things

No, what people aren't interested in is another of your strops that they're not doing what you want them to. Contributors will give information, or not, according to their wishes and you don't get to demand that they help you. You also don't get to demand that I spend my time going back through threads and remove your content, as your Post Report from yesterday says.

Many owners HAVE passed on details of their vehicles to Chris over the years and waited and waited for the promised "book" . This seems to have come to nought. Adderley Park LCVs are a bit specialised. Not many on this forum will own one and not all of them will want to pass on details (most probably already HAD!) so it is not surprising that this latest plea has probably received little response.
I think that a good number of owners ARE interested in the historical side of the Morris Minor but there isn't exactly a shortage of books on the subject is there?

Thought you told me Anders had all the records?

I agree with ManyMinors, the numbers will be quite low. I don't have any LCVs, but have previously passed on details of AP Travellers; and am really interested in the research. I suspect that there are many people who would love to see the book, but just don't have any details to contribute to the project. I hope that POMMReg will reconsider and stay with us.

Simon is often lauded (usually by me) for his near infinite levels of patience and fortitude, and I cannot think of a better example of that than right now :P

Don't be silly, don't DEMAND do I?

As ManyMinors states, there ARE loads of books available, however, every one contains a degree of wrong information, also a fair chunk is omitted.

Only TRUE way of arriving at facts is recording details direct FROM vehicles, don't learn anything by continually copying stuff that was wrong 70yrs ago.

I know it’s an uphill task, and indeed a slow process, Chris. I can remember one of your posts way back in 2010 saying booklet pretty much done. However when people give out information, how do you know it relates to that vehicle, the owner may not even know. Old vehicles and numbers get juggled around over the years, re- shelled and rebuilt from many parts, plus log book availability. No wonder some of these books get it wrong, it fact dare I say you may have been given wrong info here and there. It’s difficult to prove one way or the other sometimes.
Unless you publish ( if that plan is back on) your data in Supplements, adding or correcting in the following one, you’ll likely never finish.

You have taken on a very worthy and onerous task but would it not be best for ‘the cause’ to publish what you have, here, for all to see on the principle that a half finished jigsaw puzzle attracts more attention than an unstarted or complete one?

Catch the eye of the passing trade? Many hands makes light work etc. I personally would love to see what you have found.

If Admin is willing it could do with its own sub header on the main page.

Well yes Mick but Chris has worked on this for years, and originally, when things were nearly ready, he asked for those interested in the booklet to let it be known, and it was more or less accepted that a price would be set for a copy. I think that was fair enough, considering the time and effort put into his project.
However things have changed since then, so it’s now just carrying on.

Okay Les, I was unaware it was a for profit venture, apologies as a relative newcomer joining forum in sep 2020 I wasn’t really aware of the history. I read your prior post - 2010 - That’s var nigh 12 years in the making, hence my thinking of opening it up to others that may have been able to read-digest-add.

Please put me down for a copy then Chris.

That’s fair enough Mick, I wouldn’t necessarily say it was intended as a money making venture, it was just thought it would be a nice gesture as thanks for the work, and yes there’s history with this subject, and doubts about its future.

Bulk of text for the LCV book done years ago.

There's the BIG question of how detailed it should be - go with lots of illustrations & long accepted information - or NEW (contradicting previous publications) information gleaned over the past 35 odd yrs.

Important to note that just about ALL post 1969 Minor LCV change points were uncovered via cab & engine nos. which perhaps explains why I request them, and help get VINs re-instated.
Les, I cross reference cab & engine nos. to confirm VIN is correct, the chassis plate should NEVER be relied on alone.

Enough of my waxings...😴😴

Happy Christmas & a Happy New Year to you all & especially to those who've supported my "quest" over the years!🤓

PS; Continuing with Saloon, Traveller & Tourer number collecting, ever so sad letting 10yrs of work go down the drain!!
