Engine out

Hi looks like we will be removing the engine and gearbox fir refurb.Any advice on this regardingbremoval does and donts please. I am guessing the front grill and bonnet will have to come off.Can you please advise how to do these thanks.

You can get the engine out with the grille in place (remove the mount tower and rotate 90 degrees), if you want to remove both together you need the front panel off though. Every body has a favourite method but fundemently it's pretty straightforward and the best route for you will be dictated by the facilities available to you.

Kevin is right. My engine has been in and out several times over the 40 years I have owned her. I find, now the nuts and bolts have been replaced with stainless steel, that it is always easier to take the grill off.

When I replaced my engine, I unbolted the gearbox crossmember and dropped the engine and gearbox out the bottom of the car in one piece. I had the car lifted high enough that I could then pull it out from underneath with a rope, sitting on a piece of carpet. I put it back in the same way.
