Oil pressure gauge tube routing

Post by daniel-b »

Hello,

I have a 1954 early Series II with an oil pressure gauge. It is LHD.

Could anyone tell me where the tube for the oil pressure gauge is supposed to go through the bulkhead? I am pretty sure mine is incorrectly routed.

Thanks,

Daniel

I don't believe it was ever a factory fit, so routing is through most convenient hole in bulkhead

I think you may be incorrect, since it is in the basic General Description for the 803 engine on the first page of section AA in the Manual...

Hi, the early Minors had a standard oil pressure gauge, up until late 1954, I believe.

I'm sorry - I can't help with the question around the routing on a LHD car, but I can confirm that it is absolutely a standard fitment on an early Series II :-)

Sorry didn't know it was standard on early minors, mine is 60s and didn't have one originally so I retro fitted one.

Not relevant for a '54 car but I retro fitted one and an ammeter to a '62 car.
I drilled a hole through the bulkead directly above the heater hoses, fitted a suitable grommet and fed the copper pipe and ammeter cables through that. The small copper pipe can be seen to the left of the heater hose.
There's a small diameter black cable too, can't remember what that's for!

Thanks everyone for the replies. Looks like I'll be routing the pipe wherever it's convenient.
