receipts show its been on the car about 6 weeks ad probably therefore under 200 miles!

Is that the cable operated valve? This happened to me too but mine went bang catastrophically with huge loss of coolant. ESM assured me that the valves they now sell are of better quality. However, I am considering carrying a spare valve in the boot.

Yep, fitted by previous owner. Spotted puddle of antifreeze under the car, quick investigation and it was dripping out of the valve end.
Now replaced with older style brass screw tap bought from ESM as a precaution
