Old English White RAL Colour Code??

Apologies if this has been done to boredom but I could not find any info on my search here.

Do folks know the correct RAL code for Old English White? The spray shop are recommending RAL 1013, which is Oyster White. Is this nearest enough?

Please don't tell me that it should WT3 as this apprently means nothing to a modern powder coater. (I may need to look around for an old school powder coater, if anyone knows one in the Bristol area??)

Any help appreciated.

cheers.

I would go for 1013, but remember, there is only 216 different ral classic colours.

Last time i asked a car painter, hed had about 1025 different white shades to choise from.

So you nearly all the time have to pick the closest match.

Is it the rims you are painting?

I have been using Rover Arum White which seems pretty close.

In the past, I've seen it written that 9010 is the nearest if the RAL system is being used.... 9001 also suggested, but not 1013, which I must admit looks far too 'dark'.

I didn't realise there were so few colurs in the RAL system.

Many thanks. :tu1:

Sadly, these chaps need a code rather than a name, otherwise I would just say paint them OEW.
many thanks :tu1:

That's super useful, many thanks.
I'll take a deeper look into 9010 and 9001.
Much appreciated. :D

9001 is a bit cream coloured, nice but to white if you are trying to match oew.

9010 is the colour used on white refridgerators etc.

It is a very pure white, goes well with almost every othe hue. Lambretta used it for scooters in the sixties, they xalled it Bianco nuovo. Too white if you want oew.

The idea behand RAL was to have limited numbers of standard colours, that every paint manufacturer could match, and base the colours around pigments that would not fade or be sensitive to uv exposure.

The germar railways was one of the pioneers using ral. Then they could order components, and be sure that the colour matched even when they distributed the order over many suppliers.

OEW is at least normally the same hue, that can not be said about "british racing green"

Here's a useful website, but remember of course that Monitors/Screens don't always give the correct tone.

When I wanted to colour match something to a RAL colour, I bought a sample tin - much easier and more accurate than trying to match computer screen colours or tiny colour cards in a shop!

Try these guys - they do the 1013 Oyster Paint as a RAL tester:

Thanks, Pete.
That link was the best way I've seen to view the different colours, many thanks.
Not sure I want to buy 3 sample tins to try them all out so hopefully the powder coaters will have some in.
thanks

RAL 1013 is almost like Old English White, but not a complete coincidence
