Things often go full circle.

There has been a trend for many years to say 'for free'. There is no such thing as 'for free' . Something can be 'free' or 'free of charge', but not 'for free'.

However, I saw an advert recently where something was offered as 'free'. The makers of the advert probably thought they were being clever by dropping the word 'for', as there is a fashion for dropping words nowadays. But they had unknowingly gone full circle and become grammatically correct again.

Let's hope this trend continues.
