Chassis numbers v bulkhead numbers.

Post by Owlsman »

I mentioned a couple of months ago that I somehow ended up as joint registrar for the 'Dual Personality Minors' register!! A long story, I'll not bore you with now. :D
The new register is going pretty well, mainly thanks to the F/book page and a bit of a feature in the latest issue of Minor Matters. Ideally, the register does need the chassis number (plus other details, of course) to check whether it is within the generally accepted production run of DP vehicles.

One or two potential members, however, are quoting what I think are the numbers usually impressed on a narrow plate, affixed high up un the bulkhead over by the wiper motor. There is a very old thread on this very subject of the difference between chassis nos. and these bulkhead/body nos. but it seems to be no longer available.

Can anyone clarify for me please what the 'bulkhead' numbers are and if there is any sort of code, as there is for chassis numbers?

Thanks in advance everyone.
