Concours Minor Radiator

Post by oldboldpilot »

All early radiators with overhang top tanks, high tank top tanks and the first of the low tank top tanks were fitted with the gill on tube radiator core. This is the type where the core is made up of flat horizontal copper fins with brass tubes running vertically through them. The later low tank radiator was fitted with a packed construction copper and brass core, which is vertical brass tubes with rippled corrugated copper fins packed between them. It is possible to fit this core to the tall top tanked radiator, mainly fitted on the split windscreen model, but a keen scrutineer will mark this radiator down on originality appearance. There is a company advertising the oe spec early radiators on ebay and I know them to be the Nottingham Radiator company. They also do recores on the early overhang top tanked radiator and are advertising their radiators supplied with a high polished brass top tank if required.
