How to connect a DR3A wiper motor?

Hi,

A few years ago a workshop had re-connected the wiper motor(Lucas DR3A single speed) in such a way that the auto-park feature stopped working.

Starting from Down to Up there are 3 spade connectors. The middle one has a notch/slit that matches one of the spade 'raised' connectors. I'm not sure if what appears to be a spade connector on the top round cap is actually one?

I found many wiring diagrams online, but all were for a 2 speed motor and not the 'single speed' diagram that I want.

1. From Down to Up , which should be Positive and which Earth?

2. Should the motor have 3 or more connections?

In the attached picture, connecting Earth/Negative to the First spade connector and Positive to second(Down to Up) directly to the battery works fine.

Thank you.
(Note: The green wire you see in the far right side of the pictures was put there recently to replace the spoilt brown/maroon colour wire on the top round cap)

From the bottom up I believe the connections are.

Green/Black this comes from the wiper dash switch, colour not too clear in photo
Green this is a permanent live and the connector has a piece on the side that will fit in the slot on the motor
Black this is earth and is connected to the body of the fuel pump and then to earth under one of the fuel pump fixing bolts, this can be seen in the photo

See photo below

Hope this helps

Thanks andy.pointeer.

The problem was that the top most spade connector was connected, but it needed to be earthed. This seems to have happened when the electric fuel pump was replaced with a mechanical one eons ago.

Electrical problem solved :D
