Hi
I've been kindly given an A30/35 propshaft for my smooth case remote 948 gearbox.
I only need the front coupling and U/J, however it appears the MM gearbox output shaft is wider than the "female" A30/35 coupling on the propshaft.
Is this correct or is it me not lining up the splines properly (this has happened with me on other vehicles before)?
Thanks
A30/35 propshaft

Re: A30/35 propshaft
Why does the length matter if he's only using the front section?
I can't see that the front section of the Austin wouldn't be of use on a Minor myself.

Re: A30/35 propshaft
Yes it will be cut and shut anyway because it is going into a special.
I suppose what I am saying is...does an A30/35 propshaft fit onto a smooth remote MM box?
Does the gearbox's drive spigot's splines correspond with the propshaft's splines?
thanks

Re: A30/35 propshaft
Yes. MM and A35 gearbox are the same.
Only difference is the series 2 MM and A30 boxes. MM has a slightly shorter tail shaft.

Re: A30/35 propshaft
Thanks.
It WAS me being incompetent, then...It hurts but that's much cheaper than having to buy a propshaft

Re: A30/35 propshaft
I removed the u/j from the front and it fitted easily.
HOWEVER, once cleaned, greased and reassembled, it (the u/j) does not move quite as easily as it did before I took it apart.
QUESTION... if one of the needle rollers fell over into the end of the cup during reassembly, would the u/j still move and operate? Or would it seize solid or be VERY stiff?
