Clutch works fine, no slip etc
When engine cool, (first 10 miles or so) clutch action is fine.
However, when engine fully up to temp, I seem to have to depress clutch further, hard to floor, to avoid crunching when going into first.
I think i have clutch rod adjusted correctly, it's as if the clutch bearing 'fades' when it gets hot.
When engine cools, clutch depresses and disengages normally.
Am I imagining this?

Clutch problem...fade ?

You know of course that there is no synchromesh on first gear? You must be completely stopped to change into first or learn to double declutch. Most Minor owners don’t use first very much for this reason.

It is more likely the gearbox, not the engine.
What grade oil is in the gearbox?
Another possibility is a failing spigot bearing.
Both may be keeping the spigot shaft turning, when stationary is much better for first gear selection.

Re: Clutch problem...fade ?
Sounds normal, it’s most likely the gearbox warming up, what you can do when stationary is momentarily put it in to Second gear to stop the gears turning then select First.
If it still crunches then it needs further investigation.
