Odd Brake Failure
A strong pressure on the brake pedal of my 1966 Traveller produced a bang from the back, the pedal almost reaching the floor. The brakes still worked, but with a long pedal travel. Obviously not a hose or a cylinder, but what? A check of the rear brakes found an adjusting screw very loose. Removing the drum showed a broken ‘micram’ adjuster, close examination showing a fatigue fracture at the weakest point, one side showing rust (see picture). A life at the seaside maybe? Sea air condensing in the drums? Bad manufacture? Definitely a point worth checking. Geoff Marshall (50877)

ike Chris Moseley I too wanted an answer to the messy part of servicing when greasing the trunnions. The answer for me was easy, being a retired HGV/ Heavy Plant Fitter I converted
gun adapter the bill came to a fiver, I already had a big Tecalamit grease gun saved from my working days, I have seen the same
guns at Autojumbles for around a fiver. It was a simple matter of changing the nipples over and now I do not have a big splurge of grease emanating from around the grease gun adapter/grease nipples. I hope this helps other members who, like me and Chris, are fed up with the mess when greasing their trunnions.

my grease nipples to the flat hexagon TAT type nipple as used on Heavy Plant. With these nipples the grease gun slides on to the nipple effecting a good seal between the two. I obtained the nipples at Huddersfield Autojumble and alongside a spare grease
