Am I the only one who's still confused about the two different Trafalgar Blues? Two different changeover dates have been mentioned: 1962 and 1968, and there seems to be disagreement over which is the lighter of the two and which one you will get if you simply ask a paint factor for BU37.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
First of all thanks for the colour chart. I've now seen the Valentine paint chips and can confirm that the two blues in question are quite similar, but the later 67/68 onwards looks a little cleaner, whereas the 62 shade could be considered more 'dusty' in comparison. It gives you the impression that if you gave the latter a good polish it would look the same as the former. The codes are the same as has been suggested. The only question remaining now is, as Alex said, what one do you get if you ask for Trafalgar blue?
The company that had the chips, like many others, don't do cellulose any more but sell what they call Industrial cellulose, which, as for as I can find out, is the same but only bases are available, any paint mixes are therefor a case of matching rather than useing a formula.
Hopefully for a short while some places are still able to get stock cellulose and then the question mentioned earlier in this post will apply.

The colour chart is very useful unless you have a Clipper blue traveller, in which case its not there. The Smoke Grey looks like Clipper blue though... why do you think they made up these names? Rose Taupe? You'd never guess it was grey!

My experience re: trafalgar blue.
The two shades differ in the hue rather than the shade. The earlier has a slight green cast. The later is a flatter blue with no hint of green whatsoever. You could be forgiven for thinking it's the same paint that's been poorly maintained and gone dull.
The earlier seems to be more common. This is probably because it is the one that is available mixed as replacement paint.

Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

colour chart
Help! My car is 1955 Beige series 11. Export model. Can anyone tell me if there were ever two shades of Sandy made? I have ordered sandy beige (B15) as I was told that that was the right colour but in my book of words it says it is "Sandy" only. Sometimes it seems to have a pinkish hue to it in certain lights.
I was told that this particular shade was used for 18 months only along with the MG but the MG chart looks nothing like the MM one to me.
Cheers.
