... no-one would notice, and I'm bursting to tell!

Very pleased to announce that I am to become a Grandfather!

My eldest son and his wife are expecting their first child, and our first grandchild early in August... so it's official. I am an Old Git!

Congratulations! :D

Don't worry, people will still notice if it's in off topic as I'll leave a 'shadow' here in general discussion so that everyone sees it

(We try to keep the board 'tidy' with everything in the right forum as it makes it easier for people to find what they are looking for)

Grandkids are great I was presented with my first (and only if you listen to my daughter) last year. When they are older you can fill them full of e numbers and shake them about for couple of hours before handing them back leaving their parents to clear up the mess. You do have to understand though that the comments about costs are correct. You thought you spent a lot on your own kids - just wait. ?still got the train/scalectrix/meccano? girl or boy these days it doesnt matter.
Congratulations - enjoy it

I'm sorry but I have the best granddaughter, so fall in line. :)

Of course I may be a little biased.

My third is on its (his) way. Going to get a bit squashy in the back- may have to look at a 7 seater conversion for Molly!

I'm very pleased for you. I've heard it said that being a garndparent is better, as you don't now have the sleepless nights. Fancy saying you have to be old to be a grandparent :D . My grandmother was 42 when she became a grandparent (My grandfather was 48), as both she and my aunt were youngish mothers. Be sure to pass on the Minor habbit.

When I was born, I still had more great grandparents than grandparents (Five). Two died within a couple of years, then two more just before I was six (On the same day but there was no connection) and the last lived until I was nine :D . Sadly two years later one of my grandmothers died (And it was her mother who had lived until I was nine), with the others passing on over the next twenty years (I wish the first two had lived to see me learn to drive). There are times when I'd give anything to be able to talk to them and if there's one thing I hope I never lose, its my memory. I have quite a good memory for things in my past but I wish I had written down some of the stories they told me.
