Re: Which class is my car in?
Hi, with recent reports of DVLA clamping down on modified cars leading to loss of historic vehicle status if the structure is altered to allow the fitting of a engine or gearbox and possible reregistration on a Q plate, what will happen? Will the club definitions be changed to allow for this?

A lot of scaremongering on this topic i'm afraid. Have a read of the Q plate thread here.

What do you mean by change of definitions ?deano69 wrote:Hi, with recent reports of DVLA clamping down on modified cars leading to loss of historic vehicle status if the structure is altered to allow the fitting of a engine or gearbox and possible reregistration on a Q plate, what will happen? Will the club definitions be changed to allow for this?

Re: Which class is my car in?
The first post outlines rough definitions for 3 classes, he last being-'The only real stipulations in this class are that it is still recognisable as a Minor and is still valid for Historic Vehicle status by the DVLA. ' Reports i have read say that historic vehicle status will be lost to cars whose structure is altered and as historic status would seem to be a feature for all 3 classes just wondered whether the definition for each class would change to allow for a minor altered to the degree that dvla removed this status to be included in the register.

Re: Which class is my car in?
Hi Dean right I am with you now, when and if there are any changes brought in (which seems unlikely) it would only affect the custom class cars as that is where cars with alterations to the structure would be and even if their status was to change it would not affect those cars in this section as far as the club would be concerned, they would still be the same type of car and within the criteria of that section.
Cheers

Re: Which class is my car in?
HI All,
I would just like to remind those attending the National Rally this year that please be aware of which class your car should be in Modified or Custom.
I was approached at the AGM last year and told that a number of people did not know what class they were in.
The original posting gives a rough idea of which class relevant to modifications. If in doubt ask.
Regards,
Jules

Re: Which class is my car in?
As the current registrar of the custom and modified register i would think you fall into sports modified but i would not get too hung up, some people will say that all our cars are customised..
last year at the national i just asked owners to park up where they felt they should be either in the customised or the modified row, it was their choice.k
If you would like to sign up for the custom and modified newsletter please drop me a Pm with your email address

Re: Which class is my car in?
I have green carpets with red seats. Is this custom modified? Or should I try a bit harder, Charlie?

Re: Which class is my car in?
I think old Boris could be classed as Sport Modified, 1275, 5 speed Sierra, Spax gas, servo discs, alloys, non standard interior.[frame][/frame]
