Servo assisted brake conversion.
Hi, I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions on the best place to source the vacuum feed for the servo from, when fitting the kit. The instructions I have with the kit suggest tapping into the inlet manifold, is this the best place?

It's the only place! Which servo are you planning to fit? A 7" remote one will fit very nicely in the right-hand side of the engine bay, mounted on the floor of the bay. Don't forget that you will need to bring the feed for the rear brakes up to the front and blank off the existing feed on the back of the master cylinder. You will also need a 4-way 'T' to connect up the front and rear brakes.
Do you have disk brakes as well?

Hi, Thanks for your response, yes, I have ford vented discs at the front, already fitted.
I have all the bits (I hope!!) to do this, as I bought the kit off David Manners Morris Minor Centre in Birmingham. I just thought it would be good to sound out others, who had experience of doing this, as drilling / tapping the manifold seemed a bit extreme but if it's the only place then it must be done.

You can buy manifolds already tapped for the servo. Look on ebay or the wanted section on this forum or at a push the usual suppliers. Depending on your facilities this might be easier that drilling and tapping your own.

And if you do have to tap your manifold, remove it and do it on the bench, making sure there is no swarf lying around.

Can't really see where else you are going to find the vacuum...... Diesel engines use vacuum pumps - I guess you could fit one of these ? As above - don't let the swarf in!

I didnt know if you needed a combined or seperate inlet so both sorts are shown, if you go for a combined ask if its pre-drilled.
