Have you heard about it & where's it going? Have I missed it in Minor Matters?

Welcome to the messageboard. I haven't seen anything in Minor Matters but according to the MOT website the details have now been fixed. It will be in Quimper, Northern Brittany but I can't see any mention of the date :-? http://minors-on-tour.org.uk/category/t ... -of-coming

Hopefully someone who knows will be along soon :D

Ummmm.... that'd be me then! Yup, details confirmed as Saturday 24th May - Saturday 31st May 2014 and will be in Quimper, Brittany. The website is being updated as I write, I'll have it done within a couple more days (sorry, work has to come first!!!). If anyone needs an application form in the meantime just send me a PM and I'll forward one to you

Unfortunately I probably won't be there unless by some "miracle" I get another Minor.....

Quimper is in South-west Brittany, nearest car-ferry port : Roscoff

Did anyone see my ex Traveller (LHD Almond Green n° AB 338 TD) in Granville on MOT 2013 ? I sold Grommit to a person who lives just south of there.

I see the headline on the MOT Home page is
"LATEST NEWS: 25 January 2013 - MOT 2013 clothing orders now being taken"
The only mention of the Quimper trip I can find is one line which you'll find by clicking on 'thinking of coming? Joining us on the next trip to Normandy?' (i.e. the 2013 trip) underneath "Latest News..."
Maybe I've missed something?

Hi Mary
If you'd like to think back a couple of years, you'll remember the MOT website was an archive of older photos, and one or two reprints of trip reports from Minor Matters. There was a free messageboard, from BraveNet if I remember correctly, that acted like a 'guestbook' and had the occasional new post from someone asking where the trip would be next year. And that was about it.

Since then, I've archived all of the older reports by year, along with galleries for each year too. There's a whole section on what we do on MOT, plus advice about route-planning, obeying French laws, etc. For the 2013 year, I also trialled the following: A noticeboard for people going to post up help requests etc. and a list of the people and contact details who organise the trip, should you need help of any description on site. The registration form for coming along is also there, along with descriptions of the site and the accommodation options. And the local area to visit.

Now, that's a fair bit of work. I dunno, maybe 30 hours worth in total. I have my day job, but unlike most 'day jobs' mine is actually a 24 one, because I am a foster parent for difficult to place young people. For much of what other people think of as spare time, I spend it at police stations. Young people living with me are usually out of education, so during daytime I'm either a teacher or an escort. During evenings I'm keeping warring factions apart, and writing endless reports. Weekends? No, I don't get weekends. Now, I'm not looking for empathy, because this is a job I chose to do and I enjoy doing it. What I am looking for is understanding that my time is mostly not my own, and I get to doing stuff for MOT, and other stuff for the club, whenever I can. The site will be done as soon as the opportunity presents, but until then it won't be done. Unless you, or someone else with more time, would like the admin key and would be doing it yourself?

The fifteen minutes I've just spent writing this would have been fifteen minutes more work on the site, so I'm actually further behind now than I would have been. Let me get on with it, and it'll be there soon. Posts like 'this is a bit tardy' is making me think that sod it, I'll go and have a pint instead

As you wish - but surely it wouldn't take long just to write a front page headline with a link to whoever is sending out the booking forms? Not every club member is on the MOT mailing list, or visits this forum.
FYI I did my share of hard work for the MMOC when I lived in the UK: on the National Committee, on the National Rally, taking cars to classic shows and with my husband Chris I ran the first week-long MOT in 1985, and the 6 subsequent ones. I can't usually go on MOT these days due to work & caring commitments.
We now run the French club :D

Hopefully you'll remember then how unhelpful it was when people criticised you for not working hard enough!

Sadly, me neither next year - we'll be over in the other side of France and popping into a few other countries on MOT+

Registration Form, info letter, and accommodation info, is all now on the site http://minors-on-tour.org.uk/ in the 'Thinking of Coming' category. I'll add some info on the local area etc as and when time constraints allow.
