When to get a car?
Hi all, I'm 18 and currently learning how to drive but I'll only be able to take the test in about a years time due to a job abroad. I was wondering whether there are any drawbacks of buying a MM now and leaving it parked outside for around 9 months? Worried I'll see the car I like but by the time I get around to passing my test it won't be available anymore. Thanks
Re: When to get a car?
Heya If I was you I would just keep your eye out for a moggy whilst away
Leaving any car for a long period of time is never good for cars espeshally older ones even of it was started atleast once or twice a week that would be a start.
So my advice would be just keep your eye out for one and if you like it alot try inbox the seller and see If you can come to an agreement. I recently just bought my first moggy and it took over a year of searching to find her
Just be patient and be sure it's the right girl for you

It will suffer if parked up for 9 months, they don't like it. Better to wait and get one to learn in,get your driving lessons from a school but have the moggy to get more practice, then pass first time, just be aware that the moggy will be a lot different to drive than a modern school car

Yeah, i think buying it next year would probably be for the best but it's just so tempting when you see one you really like hopefully one will catch my eye this time next year! cheers for the replies

If stored in a good secure dry garage - and started/taken for a run once a month (NOT in wet/salty conditions...obviously) it would 'store' ok - but don't worry - they are not in short supply - always PLENTY up for sale. However - prices are rising all the time !
