I am after a copy of the book "morris mono construction", either as a book or pdf format .can anyone help?
I need pictures of how the minor was originally constructed as i prefer originality when restoring rather than pattern panels.
I currently need a picture of the rear spring hanger / rear valance area.

Hi Don,
I would like infomation on how the minor was assembled originally,pictures of the panels,etc.I prefer to restore the body more like it was originally rather than how the repair panels fit.it is hard to tell what they were like when rust has taken hold !.I am currently working on the rear of the body i.e spring hanger,rear valance.inner wing area.
how many pages cover specifically the minor?
I would like to buy the book,but not at that price !

They do turn up at shows and autojumbles reasonably often. Think I paid about £20 for mine a few years ago. Club spares may be worth a try too. Its very informative and does show how the bodies were built up and joined. (The thing with a lot of repair panels is they are just that - a panel designed to repair the common rust areas and designed for easy fit and developed in the 1980s when there was less concern about originality and more MOT type repairs). Floor pans are very poor in originality - I end up cutting most of the flanges and lips off and just using the flat section with the pressed ribs (which are a pretty good match).)
The dimensions in the book for making a front end alignment jig are very good too, but probably a bit excessive if you're only rebuilding one car...

Looks like the older one, with the prewar styled cars in (Morris 10 etc), but if it includes the Minor as it says it should still suit anyone on here!

The section of the mono construction book covering the Morris Minor chassis/body assembly was reproduced in a Car Body Manual published in Australia in the 1950's. I am happy to send a scan of this to anyone interested.

I'm a Newby and was looking for some help regarding dimensions of chassis. I have two Morris Minors (long involved story) both two doors and 1968/9. : one is in reasonable shape and will be on the road fairly shortly. The second is in terrible shape and the floorpan has really been randomly welded to hold it together so I need to have some kind of way of measuring it so that I don't end up with a skew body and then fight trying to get panels to fit, doors to close etc. I understand there is an assembly jig that I'm happy to build.


Based up in Scotland, have built a teardrop trailer and have almost finished rebuilding a series 3 Land Rover. This will be the work horse around the farm. Www.jtahcu.wordpress.com; Another long complicated story.

The factory workshop manual has body detail (section R) which gives exploded diagrams of the shell plus alignment dimensions and jig use. Copies are readily available and I think it may be accessible online. You need the factory manual for this, it isn't in the Haynes one.

I've found the drawing in the workshop manual, looks like an older version MM but will it gives me a starting point to check the measurements when the Land Rover is outside where it should be and the MM is on a spit in the garage.
