Hi all,
I have been replacing the bearings and seals on my rear axle. Unfortunately I have managed to damage the thread on the right hand side. The bearing retaining nut is part number 2A 7103. The axle is part number ATA 7618.
Could anyone tell me the correct diameter and thread type so I can try to buy a die to clean up the thread?
Thanks
Mark

Re: Rear axle
I am not aware that there is a split die or die nut available for the threads on the end of the axle tube.
The thread is a Unified National Special (UNS) so not very common.
The best way forward for you is to obtain a thread file with the correct threads per inch (TPI) which is 16TPI and file away any damage.

Unfortunately if the damage is severe a replacement axle casing is the order of the day.
Please post a picture(s) of the damaged threads on here so that a further assessment of the damage can be made

Re: Rear axle
Thank you. I have managed to repair the thread carefully with a fine file so all is good now.
