Insertion time
You can't back them out as the coils are only "one-way".
Snap-ff tool in use to snap off the V-coil key
Dynamo back in place with a suitable number of spacer washers placed between the side bracket and the dynamo bolt lug.

That does a great repair! Never understood why the MM used such a wide belt, not as though the dynamo generates 5kw!

In an ideal world all internal threads in alloy should be fitted with Helicoils, makes the thread much more resilient.

I was lucky, my water jacket/ dynamo bracket is cast iron, it was on the car when I bought it in 1970.

The "other" green low-light, that was on eBay, had the cast iron dynamo mount - was yours like this I did buy a spare alloy one, from ESM, to replace the poor-condition one on my high-light, but it turns out that the fabricator has cut 5/16" UNF threads instead of M8x1 fine.smithskids wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 9:20 am I was lucky, my water jacket/ dynamo bracket is cast iron, it was on the car when I bought it in 1970.

That's a USHM2 engine with the bracket cast into the head. Your engine is from a much later (non-Lowlight) car. The BMC President tractor and the Vedette boat engine had iron side castings on the later block.
