I have been given a wheel which reportedly came from a Morris Minor 8 cwt van many years ago. It is marked LP806AW 4 1/2 J.
I can't find this number referenced anywhere. Anyone know anything about it?
Thanks, Tom

Re: Van wheel?
There appears to be van rims LP917——-LP936—— and one that I’ve not heard of before, until recently——LP896. This could be what you have mistaking the 9 for 0 —— 806 ?

Re: Van wheel?
Mine are the LP 896 that Les mentioned, and notified to you on Facebook.
They are 4 1/2j with the extra width added to the outside.
I am completely perplexed as to their origin, despite asking many interested parties who have never seen this designation before.
I bought them (off Ebay) from a seller who had them fitted to a tourer which was undergoing a restoration to standard spec.
Unfortunately the owner could shed no light on their origin.
I have never seen a similar set since buying, despite viewing every LCV that has wider wheels.
I have also never seen any wheels with your number either. I am totally mystified of the origin to either of these numbers.
Good luck

Re: Van wheel?
The 936 rim also has the extra width on the outside, I’d like to see a comparison with these 896 rims.
The 936 rims appear to be the 917s with the centre welded in the other way round, the wider inside part then being outside, if that makes sense.

Re: Van wheel?
I think your description is exactly right Les.
The LP917 was the wheel fitted to the late 8cwt vans.
The LP936 was an accessory wheel sold for fitment to the Minor 1000, Riley 1.5 and others. It was never a factory fit wheel and is not a "Minor van wheel" although it was probably manufactured by using the components of that wheel. Dunlop will have made the LP917 by fitting the rim from something else to a Minor centre I expect. You cannot fit the LP917 wheel to the front of a Riley 1.5 because the steering arm fouls the tyre.
I have never come across a LP896 myself. The picture above looks more like the LP917 to me than the LP936 although it is hard to say. What number is stamped into the hubcap mounting lug?

Re: Van wheel?
Thanks. I was really meaning the wheel in the first picture which looks completely different to yours John
Yours looks more like the LP936 "reverse rim" wheel with the extra width on the outside. The one at the start of this thread looks more like a LP917 wheel to me hence the question!
