Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor
Well done for spotting that. You're quite right It shouldn't have the red coach line and this has now been removed. These cars were bought on a budget i.e. no overriders, coach lines, low compression engine. If they could save a penny then they would.

Great find,I have found a set for sale so have bought them.I will ask the GMP Museum if they have any further information.geoberni wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 12:05 pmInteresting theory, I doubt it, but anything is possible as it was a time of experimentation. The reason I doubt it is the markings are not particularly bold and nothing really shows from the side. These are more of a 'rear view mirror' marking.Murrayminor wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:13 am
This shot was of the Stockport Police back in the late 50's, I wondered of the cars were destined for use at Ringway Airport, now Manchester International Airport.
Even back in the 50s, airfield paint schemes would be bold to spot at a distance. For example this RAF Crew Bus is typical of what the RAF did, just paint the top of their regular blue fleet

Edited to add....
I've just found that Corgi did a special edition set featuring those cars. http://www.chezbois.com/corgi/modern_co ... _61551.htm
According to the Corgi models, they also bore a roof sign "POLICE COURTESY PATROL" the model set features the car on the far right of the photo WDB 634...

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor
It was of course accompaniments but spell check on my tablet inserted the incorrect word.firedrake1942 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 1:19 pm There is a specialist register for these and they may able to assist re livery. Almost every force was different and many (most) had no roof lights and very few had blue lights

Murray Minor, I was some (many) years ahead of you and in the MPS but was it not 'appointments?' rather than 'accompaniments'?

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor
Was there any sign of white paint on the roof of yours?
As mentioned some forces would do anything to save a bit of money hence only the doors being white.

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor
All met pandas only had the doors painted white but some other forces painted part of the roof white.

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor
I wouldn't take a corgi model as a reference, they also made a model of our bristol omibus minor (even same registration) but the break lines between the green and white are nothing like the photos I have when they were in service.

Nice! A tip worth considering is to lightly smear any rubber gaskets for hinges, light fittings etc. with red rubber grease to keep water at bay.

Thanks for the feedback, It’s currently still In that state as the pictures show but under a cover on the drive, I have taken off the complete rear suspension and am currently doing a full rebuild off it.

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor
Are you planning any significant changes to the mechanical components, or keeping it fairly standard?
Was it 'original' in that regard when you got it?

Looking to keep it original as far as I can unless it’s a safety issue

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor
Intentionally I hope....
Sounds good.
Are there any signs that it was Police radio equipped when in service?
I don't think it was that common for radios in Pandas as personal radios were being issued around the same period in many forces.
But of course there were many different constabularies each with their own specifications.
