New car, not a Minor!

It turns out that Betsy is just a little too small for a child seat in the back. Elliot is just over 1 now and can kick me in the back when I'm driving so we've bought something a little bigger for our daily drive. It's also a bit newer than Betsy (by 7 years  ) http://i358.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: GIVING UP A MODERN CAR

We've been running classics as our only car for a few years now, not really too worried about the ncd as if we ever need something a bit more modern a lot of classic car insurers count 15 years old as classic on some models :)

Sorry, ignore me, just noticed that ESM have which screws to buy. Need more sleep I guess

fuel tank screws, what size?

I've started rebuilding Rosie at long last, I seem to remember some of the fuel tank screws were shot. What size screw are they? ESM lists tonnes of screws but doesn't say what they do and Bull Motif don't have their usual helpful 'you may also need' bit on the fuel tanks :(

Re: 1971 Met Panda "Rosie"

Hi Loosewheels, Our garage is 3.2 meters wide internally (probably 3.5 including the walls. We also went for a higher roof as the jig we have lifts and rolls on the central axis. We also went longer than standard for a storage area at the back. I think we were something like 0.5m2 off of needing pla...

Re: Support needed for Lottery funding bid!

Just to update anyone who is interested. We didn't get the bid, apparently not enough value to the community and the club's paperwork wasn't considered sufficient proof of it being non-profit  Never mind, we'll just have to do him up slower, but it would have been nice to get him to the 100 ye...

Re: 2 pack query

Thanks for all the replies. Don't think I'd be getting up to 10cm^2 thank goodness, especially as the car is going to be a daily drive so it will be one door at a time on sunny days when we don't need the car.

2 pack query

So, I know enough not to risk spraying two pack. We're getting a Wolesely 16/60 which comes with a couple of tins of touch-up paint which is two pack and there are some areas like door bottoms (the very underside of the door, not visible unless you are lying on your back) which need a little treatme...

Well the spray gun I'm using has 9.8cfm and 2.4 bar operating and 12 bar static as the operating parameters if that helps

Re: 1971 Met Panda "Rosie"

We bought a 200 litre compressor, can't remember the details but it can maintain a good air flow with a tank that side, and I've been using a Devilbiss FLG5 spray gun for the colour coat. I used a cheaper spray gun for the etch and high build primer.

Re: 1971 Met Panda "Rosie"

It really has taken this long to clean Rosie back to bare metal! So 6 months on and off, child care and PhD slowing things down a tiny bit. So, it's respray time and she's almost done with the primer....[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1353169132_405 [/frame][frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbim...

Ex-Met? On ebay

Don't know if anyone has spotted this on ebay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Morris-Minor-1000-/150882291820?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item232149106c It's bermuda blue and the licence plate is very close to our ex-met panda. Looks like it's had a new interior at some point. Might be a good choice for...

Re: 1971 Met Panda "Rosie"

I was trying Nitromors, I'd also tried some eco-friendly stuff too which was supposed to be okay for car paint but had the same problems and was water based so gave me rust blooms to clean off as well as being useless! :(

Re: 1971 Met Panda "Rosie"

Since the last post I have been mostly stripping off paint. Unfortunately whatever paint it was that the previous owner used to turn her red does not come off with paint stripper, it just turns into a gooey mess which smears around the panel rather than scraping off so I'm having to mechanically str...
