How's about a double event? There could be a website 'camping week' in Cornwall at that time, with a bigger group of Minors.
This would give more people a chance to chill out etc.. and all could be about to wave off the lucky ones doing the Le-Ork

Oct 06: back from Dresden with my Trabant 601 Kombi
Jan 07: back from a month thru North Africa (via Timbuktu) in a S3 Landy
June 07 - back from Zwickau Trabi Treffen
Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

True, but 4 is more than enough to start with...
An advert (article) in the club mag should get more entrants. To be honest it would be far more practical than the JOGLE - you (we) can start off early and in Scotland the late night sun would reduce the driving in the dark!
Arrival at a hotel or Campsite in northern Scotland, followed by a morning ferry to Orkney would be just the ticket.

I totally agree Ray, and providing everyone makes their own arrangements thats fine. What does have to be remembered though is the advance booking of campsites/hotels/ferry's etc. These are things that cannot be left till the last minute.

If you're talking about the campsites up this end of the country...there is never any problems with getting into them...never known any of my guests not being able to get onto the ferries either.... :D

I've had problems unfortunately. Remember its school holidays, and on Orkney it's 'show week'.

On this occasion it will be mainly up the west side, ie the M6. However on one occasion, just to make the journey worthwhile  :D, from Oxford we journeyed up the east side and took in Beamish Museum, Lindisfarne and the Forth Bridge etc

Hi all,
I'm definitely interested in going on the LEO run.

What are the accomodation plans? We have a small doog, so we need to consider dog-friendly hotels....

Regards, Neil, Stephanie, Honey & Fred (1969 Traveller).
cheers N

Hi All,

I will need to arrange time off but you can put me down for a definite maybe but can I be a woose and join you at Inverness? I wouldn't have the time to drive to Lands End then back up to Orkney.

Look at www.pentlandferries.co.uk the shortest/cheapest crossing ( I think), in theory you can go and come back in the same day. You can then drive across the Churchill Barriers to the main island. The ferry is small though so you will need to book!!!!! The other ferry is Northlink from Srabster to Stromness this is a much bigger boat but more expensive. Cheers, Jeff
