old style roof rack questions ..

Post by xpress »

hi there, looking for a sympathetic looking roof rack, similar to louisem's one! does anyone have one that they don't use that i could purchase from them, i am in surrey area. i don't mind if it's a bit old and rusted, i can clean them up. i think i could do with a roof rack, how else am i going to get my fishing on in the summer?! :)

how does the roof rack fit, are they suction cups or do they fit onto the guttering of the car?

thanks all.

I got mine from e-bay for a bargain £25 - search for classic car roof rack or gutter fixing roof rack. There's something similar on at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Roof-Rack-Fit-Cla ... 4a9f3fddae

Mine fits using two brackets that clip to the gutter - the suction cups just protect the paintwork rather than secure the rack. The main Minor parts suppliers such as ESM, Birmingham Minor Centre etc sell reproduction versions (but not cheap!).

I may have one that would be suitable, but i am in Dorset (about 6 miles from Ringwood ) so is that too far? If not then i will look it out and get some pictures up for you! :D

Well i have 3 to choose from! 8)
The 1st one pictured is beautifully detailed and would suit an early car well.
The 2nd one pictured is a later Desmo aluminium one, but is still in keeping with a late Minor age wise!!
The 3rd one pictured has had loads of use and abuse from me but has always proved to be a reliable and sturdy rack. :D
