Austin/Morris day at Brooklands in Surrey

Post by Bob Claydon »

Just a gentle reminder about the Austin/Morris day at Brooklands in Surrey on Sunday March 11th.If the weather is fair I shall take my Minor there which will be the first dedicated rally I will have attended.I have been to Brooklands in the past and it is a fantastic venue for anyone with an interest in ''transport''.Does anyone have details of forthcoming Minor appearences on TV?

I'm going for a wander around, although the car is on the transplant list. She's severely oil incontinent and running very badly so unlikely to make the journey. I went last year though and had a great day, so am looking forward to it.

What cars am I looking out for? I'll try and pop over to say hello!

I am thinking of limping my car there - as a last hurrah for the original engine before a 1275 conversion which is imminent. Does anyone know whether it is a simple 'roll-up' event or do you need to book in?

As far as I know you just turn up and pay at the gate as usual. Think its about £7 but who knows it may have gone up... Worth it for the venue though its a great day out.
If in a Morris you need to go to the old entrance off Brooklands Road the B374, not the new Mercedes Benz World entrance where the modern car park is. I expect it will be well signposted.
Fingers crossed, I'll be there in Gaffa, the Rose Taupe van with side windows.
cheers
Iain

Brooklands

I have checked the Brooklands web site re March 11th.Yes we would use the Brooklands Road ( B374 ) entrance.Just turn up and the entrance fees are £10 (seniors £9) with a £1 discount if you come in an Austin or Morris car.You can opt to grant ''gift aid'' which will add about a £1 to these prices.
