Which distributor cap?

Post by Snadger »

Bought a moggie with distributor in situ but no distributor cap or leads. I notice there are distributor caps that have the leads coming out the sides on some models. Does it matter which I use?
Its a 948cc engine.

Any help appreciated.

Personal choice, for an A series engine I think that a side entry cap gives a neater HT lead run, for a side valve I prefer a top entry cap.

Must be a cap for the 25D dizzy......not for the 45D !! Otherwise - lead posn doesn't matter.

Hi BMC just wanted to ask, is the 25D for 948 and smaller engines and 45D for 1098 and bigger??
or could I use a 25D in a 1098 engine??

Thanks.

The 25D was standard for most 948 engines and all 1098. The 45D was developed later for use in the Mini (and others..) and is a better dizzy.
