new addition to the fleet
Edward,
The most original minor i've ever seen, never been welded, never needed any....now part of my fleet.

What a beautiful car! Love the unmolested dashboard!
Re: new addition to the fleet
Absolutely fabulous, well done, looks like it has passed from one good home to another.
Some times quite sad when you cannot add any more to it, looks just great.
Regards Win

Re: new addition to the fleet
Thanks, one undertaker owner whom used it in summer only on weekends from 1957 until 2010 when it passed to a couple that used it for shows. Im the third owner, it wants for absolutely nothing other than new tyres as the cross-plies were badly perished. That is why its on the lift in the above pic. Ive had to fit my spare wheels for the short term.

It is the absolute twin of mine. Clarendon Grey 1957 ? Lovely interior, and look even better with matching wheels when you get the new tyres.
Obviously yours is the right way up !

Yet another step towards Clarendon Grey world-supremacy. They're even clinging to the ceiling waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting now!!

YO PB sorry about the spoiler as to the Christmas Teasmaid. I am gathering Clarendon Grey forces for world domination ......Two in this area in addition to mine and I met another 'twin' at David Manners this year.
As regards the antipodean photo posting. I think it is yet another quirk of this white elephant website.

Re: new addition to the fleet
The plan is still viable. I plan to nip down to CW and substitute Clarendon Grey paint for all their tins so they can only spray cars grey....... cue cackling maniacal laughter !
What is the date of registration and where ? Mine is 6.6.57 in Cambridge.

Excellent example. The patch on the side of the gearbox cover for the left foot wear is evidence of the reason for one of the few design changes done to avoid an issue. The first gearbox covers for the remote gearbox were more square in that the right side and the left side were identical, but with it being off center to the right, the RHD clutch was a bit cramped. The change was to ease the corner a bit to give your left foot a bit more room.

It's a Hampshire (Bournemouth area) number. My money is on approx. December '56 - August '57... (with reputation for useless knowledge at stake, I await confirmation with anxiety )firedrake1942 wrote:What is the date of registration and where ? Mine is 6.6.57 in Cambridge.

Re: new addition to the fleet
We ought ask the MMOC for a special area for Clarendon Grey at the National. If we ask now we may even get a reply by then (Not specifying which year of course)

Re: new addition to the fleet
reg Bournemouth 13 March 1957, still got its original card reg document RF60. I suspect the reg plates may even be the originals.
Its still got the bonnet pull label as well, original, not a reproduction.

I reckon the rear reg. plate is def original. Pressed metal. 3.5 inch digits and shaped for the recess on the boot lid.

Re: new addition to the fleet
It looks like a pressed one there on the lift but its actually the individual plastic 3D characters, same as the front. Ive seen other mid 50s plates like this so maybe/maybe notpalacebear wrote:I reckon the rear reg. plate is def original. Pressed metal. 3.5 inch digits and shaped for the recess on the boot lid.

Re: new addition to the fleet
The mirrors possibly look a little out-of-place on a Minor but they're not too far off-period. My family's photo albums reveal that my Dad's '57 Austin Cambridge had that shape/type of mirror already fitted when he bought it in 1961.

Fascinating info there, thanks for that.
