As Marky B, I sqirt in a blob of grease into the trunnion first. Check for play on the trunnions, do not fit them if you can detect any wobble or free play.

Back off one turn - to be sure they can freely rotate. If they are then 'slack' on the thread - they need renewing - possibly (actually - probably!) also a new king pin.

When you push the fulcrum pin through the trunnion, it should be centred in the grove on the kingpin.

Maybe rinse them out first as well. The last ones I fitted were full of swarf.

Thanks for the all the advice put the one side back on today bit of a strugle with the car on its side but managed in the end. I will do the other side once the car is back on all four wheels

Put in plenty of grease threads looked like new on kingpins fitted new rubber seals and polybushed no play at all on threads hopefully the other side will be as good
