Type 9 hydraulic clutch

Post by Longdog »

Hi has anybody on here fitted the mondeo hydraulic concentric clutch release bearing to the ford box? If so, which model/part numbers are applicable. Any probs with too much travel for the minor pressure plate? Which master cyl to use?
Many thanks.

Did you ever find out what master cylinder to use? I'm going down this route

Thanks

Hi Suzuki, sorry about long time in replying, in the end I found the mechanical linkage was ok once the thrust bearing was properly centred and my pressure plate was set up by an old school engineering firm. I did plan to use a master cylinder from a BMW E30 which is almost cigar thin and easy to accommodate. I did get hold of one on the bay so if you want to down this route I have a brand new one in it's box.
But no experience of the conversion for the above reasons.

Sorry long on the reply but got my clutch running sweet. Full hydraulic, hub centric set up, cost around £120ish and thrust bearing costs £18 to replace so if this goes once it's paid for itself when you compare it to cost of the rotating thrust bearing from morris centres which are around £80 and all my mechanical linkage was shot and worn out anyway so with the cost of replacing that and bushes probably cost the same, will get some picks up when I remember to. Buts that's all new parts and custom braided hoses with remote reservoir in the engine bay.

Well happy
