Horn Stopped working

Post by Tubey98 »

Hi
I was unscrewing the indicator cover and loosening the steering rack bracket near the top to try to get the indicator to self cancel when for some reason the horn went off and so I rotated the indicator back to its original position and then the horn went off but now I cant get it to work. I know that the horn and indicator wiring is all in the same area underneath the indicator but no wires are loose. Has anybody got any idea what it could be.

On the top of the switch assembly is a piece of sprung copper with a carbon brush that should rub against the ring on the column. What normally happens is that as the switch is moved the brush makes contact with the column directly, sounding the horn. In moving it back you have probably disengaged the brush from the column but failed to get it running in the correct track, quite possibly trapping the brush against an insulated part.
